Tate Underwood and Kate Williams are part of two of the state's top teams, but they are also two of San Antonio's top individual runners
The San Antonio girls distance scene should be an exciting one again this season. Chachi Gonzales is the area leader coming off of the 2021 season where her Boerne Champion teammates won their second consecutive team state title. That has Gonzales and her teammates like Kate Williams and Josey Whitaker leading the area individually.
Other big time runners in the area will be Kennady Fontenot from New Braunfels who was 11th last year at the state meet as well as a 3,200m finalist during track season.
However, home school runners like defending state champion Joy Gill (San Antonio Home School Spartans) and her teammates Faith Dasso and Clare Dasso chek in with sub 19 minute 5,000m times from last year.
