UIL 2A Girls All-State Third Team



Nunes overcame a tough start to the season to win her district, finish 14th at Region 1-2A, and finish 21st at state in a 12:44 PR.


20 Cassity Turner (Cross Roads)


Turner was 46th at the state meet last year and more than cut that in half this season with her 20th place finish. She won Region 3-2A in 12:45 and doubled back at state with another sub 13 run in 12:44.


19 Avery Cathey (Panhandle)


Cathay had the promise coming from the middle school level and she proved she could run in high school this season at Panhandle. She was the district runner-up and fourth at Region 1-2A in 13:01. She had two sub 13 minute races this year including her 19th place finish in 12:43 at state.


18 Mattie Burns (Martins Mill)


Burns was consistent and hovered in the mid 13s all season long, until she didn't. She was seventh at Region 3-2A and then exploded for a 12:43 PR and 18th place at state.


17 Sarah Laurence (Thrall)


Laurence had a great finish to her freshman season. She won her district in 13:18, was fourth at Region 4-1A, and then finished 17th at state with a huge 12:40 PR.


16 Lindsey Gooch (Iola)


Iola sophomore Gooch had a sub 12 minute race to win her district and then ran 12:34 at Region 4-2A for the regional title. She finished 16th at state with a 12:40.


15 Autumn Smith (Wink)


Smith has steadily improved each year at Wink. The junior jumped to 15th place at state with her 12:39 race. She ran sub 13 minutes four times this season including a 12:15 earlier in the year.
