The Summer Creek boys scored 54 points last spring that helped them earn the 2021 UIL 6A boys team championship.
Last weekend at the Texas Relays, they showed an intentional display of their team abilities this season. After graduating several state champion, somehow they seem to be even better this year than in a state championship year.
Summer Creek only scored double points once last year with only having a 4x400 relay qualify. They could possibly end things with 20 points this season. They ran 3:09 at the Texas Relays over the weekend and that could be a huge jolt to their aspirations for repeating.
Even though the Summer Creek 4x400 relay is impressive, their individual point earning potential is even more important. They have at least six individual who can score points with three of them scoring in more than one event.
Summer Creek's challenge could come from Duncanville. Duncanville has a powerful sprint corps and has the possibility to wrack up points in the sprints. They also have an opportunity to get one or two 800m runners to the state meet.
Duncanville's big point scoring opportunities comes in the relays. They have some of the best relays in the state and can earn double points in all three relays.
The 2019 state champs Klein Forest has the third most points in 6A according to our database and could also pose a challenge to the 2022 championship.
