Girls Texas HS Coach Of The Year Candidates

Shahira Ehiemua - Fort Bend Marshall

Coach Ehiemua is only in her second year of being a head coach, but she won her second straight UIL 5A girls state title (tied last season with Lancaster).

Somehow, this year, her girls were even better than they were in 2021. They scored points in all three relay events at the state meet when their 4x100 relay ran 46.26, the 4x200 relay ran 1:38.05, and the 4x400 relay ran 3:48.23. Relays score double point in the UIL, so the finishes were key contributors to the second title.

Marshall was also very good in the hurdle events for yet another year. They got another state title in the 100 meter hurdles with a back-to-back champion in 13.62 and a fourth place finish in 14.20. They also got eight points in the 300 meter hurdles with a 42.75 performance.

Coach Ehiemua also had a 19 foot long jumper this year and a third place finish gave them six points to the team tally.
