Last year, Coach Aubrey Lindburg guided Jace Pool to the state meet, but the senior graduated and is now in the collegiate ranks.
This year, she guided another runner to his first state championship with Michael Lopez. After a strong 13th place finish at the Region 4-5A championships, the junior will race this week in Round Rock.
On the girls side, Lindberg has Jaya Coats going to her third consecutive state meet. Coats had a top-10 finish at Region 4-5A to punch her return ticket to Old Settlers.
