There was a tight pack coming out of the gate and around the 200m mark, Alexis Frick from Celina made her move to come around on the outside and took the lead. Hannah Stuart from Canyon, the silver medalist in the 2022 UIL State Meet not to be outdone, took the lead for good going through 400m at a 1:21.71 pace.

At the 800m mark, girls started to string out with Stuart maintaining her lead, Zerah Martinez a senior from Sinton hung onto her hip not wanting to let her get too far ahead. Those two began to pull away from the rest of the group.

Stuart then kicked it into another gear and distanced herself with 5 laps to go. Martinez hung onto 2nd and Kathryn Tucker from Kaufman moved into 3rd coming in with the top time from Regionals.

Stuart continued her domination of this race while the pack started to catch Martinez who remained in 2nd with a fight for third at the mile mark.

Stuart appeared to be on cruise control with a 100m lead and not looking back with 800m to go. Martinez and Tucker rounded out your top three. Down the back stretch Avery Brown from Canyon overtook Martinez and stepped into third place.

At the bell lap Stuart dominated and looked to break the 4A state record, as it appeared to be in serious jeopardy with her coming through at 9:15.61.

This was quite a display of athleticism as Stuart dominated the race from start to finish and broke the conference state record by 11 ½ seconds with a 10:30.12 to capture the Gold Medal.

Martinez stormed back and captured the silver with a 10:59.18 while Frick came in at 10:59.95 for 3rd place.
