3A Girls 100m Hurdles
The first attempt at the final resulted in an unfair start
due to the gun slightly misfiring leaving a couple of the girls in the blocks.
After it was settled, the second try led to a fair start and it was Yierra Flemings of Cameron Yoe powering her way to a second straight title in 13.92.
3A Girls 300m Hurdles
Goliad's Kyla Hill won her third consecutive 3A Girls 300m Hurdle
title leading from the first hurdle onward. After the second hurdle she was
never challenged as she cruised to victory in 42.75. Hill, a junior, will have
a chance to go for four consecutive State titles in 2024.
The race for second was compelling as the top three finishers from last year were all in the field. In addition to Hill, Llano's Gwyn Burnett was second and New Waverly's Brooke Munoz was third last year. However, it was neither Burnett or Munoz who would finish on the medal stand but rather Gunter's Ironwoman Abigail Elmore taking second and Ashley Wood of Goliad in a close third.

The runner-up finish for Elmore gave her a total of 38
points spread out over five individual events. She was the State champion in
the shot put, grabbed silver medals in the high jump and both hurdle events and
added a fourth place in the long jump.
