Kalani Lawson Wins 4A Girls 100H And Falyn Lott Wins 300H



UIL 4A Girls 100 Meter Hurdles

The bronze medalist from the UIL 2022 State Meet was Kalani Lawson, a sophomore from Fort Worth Dunbar. Lawson also had the fastest regional time with a 14:11.

The girls were in their blocks and antsy before the gun went up, so the starter brought them back up for a reset. They got set one more time, gun was up and it was a clean start with Lawson in lane 6 and Falyn Lott a junior from Frisco Panther Creek in lane 2 battling it out over every hurdle from start to finish.

Lawson stretched ahead and captured the gold, also breaking the conference record of 14:04 that has held up since 1996 coming across with a time of 13:98 with Lott following hot on her trail coming in second with a time of 14:32 and Hannah Cade, a senior from Canton with a time of 14:57.

Falyn Lott a junior from Frisco Panther Creek was your top seed coming into this year's state meet and is currently 14th in the state of Texas. Abree Winfrey, a senior from Canyon, was the silver medal winner in the UIL 2022 State Meet.

Lott and Winfrey going at it from the gun, running side by side as they glided over the hurdles. Coming into the final straightaway, Lott was really pushing for that gold medal finish with not a lot of challenge from the other competitors.

Lott crossed that last hurdle and captured herself a state title with a time of 43.08. Jade Williams, a junior from Huffman Hargrave crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 43.90 and your bronze medalist was Winfrey with a time of 44.34.
