4x100m Relay

Stephenville was your defending Bronze medalist from the UIL 2022 State Championship hoping to improve on their finish from last year. The fastest qualifying time from regionals was Paris.

Gun was up and we were off to a great start. No issues with the handoffs at the first exchange, every girl fighting to make their exchanges as smooth as possible.

Fort Worth Dunbar in lane 8 made the exchange first and were off to a great start. They also were handed off first for the second exchange. Royal and Paris then sped their way to the podium after the last exchange knocking Fort Worth Dunbar back to third place and dashing the hopes of Stephenville making the podium again.

Royal finished in 1st place with a time of 46.72, with Paris capturing the silver with a 47.02 and Ft Worth Dunbar with a time of 47.32.

4x200m Relay

Paris had your best seed time from regionals with a time of 1:41.86. The race was wide open this year with no defending champs on the track. The next top five teams were within 7/10 of a second from one another.

This was a great race from start to finish. Paris and Royal were neck and neck for the first exchange.

At the second exchange Royal and Paris were tight on the exchange and determined to make the podium.

Royal was the dominant team as they came around for home with a huge lead to capture the gold and a new conference record with a time of 1:38.73. Paris finished in second place with a time of 1:40.33.

Stephenville came all the way from 5th to the podium and a third place finish with a time of 1:41.05 due to Victoria Cameron's strong anchor leg.

4x400m Relay

Iowa Colony had the fastest time coming into the state meet with a time of 3:55. Needville and Fredericksburg have the next fastest seed times only separated by .26 and the reigning 2022 Gold medalist Canyon is looking to cap off a fantastic team day. Kennedale is the silver medalist from 2022.

With a delay to the start, the starter calls the girls back up adding some extra suspense to the end of the 1st day of competition for the 4A Girls. Clean start as the gun goes off and all the teams take it out strong.

Fredericksburg made up the stagger by the 200m mark and Kennedale was making up ground as well. Canyon came up with a strong showing as the first exchange took place. Kennedale made the first handoff followed by Canyon.

Canyon took the lead on this 2nd lap putting some distance between them and Kennedale. At the 2nd exchange it was Canyon, Huffman Hargrave, and Kennedale. Iowa Colony made a move on this lap to close the gap.

Approaching the final exchange, Canyon, Huffman Hargrave and Iowa Colony ran 1,2,3. Iowa Colony then passed Huffman Hargrave to take 2nd with 200m to go.

Canyon maintained dominance with a strong anchor leg from senior Abree Winfrey who anchored her third straight relay to a state title.  Huffman Hargrave and Iowa Colony came across neck and neck, it was literally a photo finish. Huffman Hargrave was awarded the silver medal with a time of 3:55.355 while Iowa Colony captured the bronze with a time of 3:55.358.
