5A Boys 110m Hurdles

Fort Bend Marshall senior Arveyon Davis finally broke through after earning bronze medals in the Boys 5A 110m Hurdles each of the past two years. He left no doubt about winning by pulling away over the final three hurdles to post a time of 13.55 to take the gold medal.

The race was fairly even through the first half, but Davis' speed and technique powered him to the finish. Corsicana sophomore Ja'Shaun Lloyd edged out Alex Moore from Mansfield Timberview for second place. Lloyd entered the race with a previous personal best of 14.37 and was not seeded in the top six, but set a huge personal record of 14.09.

Texas City senior Kenyon Parker entered the 5A Boys 300m Hurdles as the third seed, but he made the race his own. He was the first to the curve and then he ran an outstanding final 100 meters to win going away in a time of 36.07.

Parker handled a strong field that included three runners from the 2022 race: Arveyon Davis (Fort Bend Marshall), Cameron Bates (Mansfield Timberview) and Kenan Reil (Justin Northwest). Davis entered the final with the top time but struggled around the curve and eventually finished in fifth place. Bates grabbed the silver medal after finishing fifth a year ago and it was David Walker of McKinney North rounding out the medal stand in third.
