The bronze medal winners from 2022 State Meet in lane 3 was the team from Mertzon Irion County.

D'Hanis got off to a fast start with the first exchange in lane one, but Cross Plains second leg made up some major ground. It was after the second exchange, Lamesa Klondike's third leg was the difference maker and where she put her team in the mix.

Lamesa Klondike got the baton first on the last handoff and never looked back getting the win in 50.66, Cross Plains received the silver in 51.01 and Pettus came in third with a 51.49.

Lamesa Klondike had the fastest time coming in from the regionals with a time of 1:48.74.

Lane 1 Brookeland was first to pass the baton and at the second exchange it was also Brookeland but then the third leg didn't show out as much so Nazareth and Lamesa Klondike were happy to step up and take the lead.

The team from Nazareth edged into first place with 50 meters to go but Lamesa Klondike wasn't about to go down without a fight. The anchor leg from Lamesa Klondike brought them back and sealed it for the win, coming across with a time of 1:47.88. Nazareth captured the silver with a 1:47.89 and Blum received the bronze with a 1:49.45.

1A Girls 4x400m Relay

In this race we had the reigning bronze medal team from Cross Plains. Nazareth had the fastest qualifying regional time coming into today's meet with a time of 4:11.45. Fun fact, five of the teams competing today were in this race a year ago.

Nazareth made up the stagger rather quickly, while Tilden McMullen County turned it up too.

These two teams were running 1-2 through the first exchange with Nazareth handing off first followed closely by Tilden McMullen County. Roby kept hanging around in the 3rd place waiting for their opportunity to make a move.

With 600m to go Tilden McMullen County charged back into first place. Nazareth caught and passed her right before the bell lap exchange. Tilden McMullen County was now in second place trying to improve on their sixth place finish a year ago.

With 200m to go Nazareth had a pretty good lead but with the 4x400 you never know until it's over. Nazareth crossed first with a time of 4:09.47 to win the gold medal. We thought it was going to be Tilden McMullen County but Roby had another plan and surged ahead at the last second to win the silver medal with a time of 4:12.15. Tilden McMullen County had to settle for a third place finish with a time of 4:12.17.
