Lauren Lewis recently graduated from Prosper High School and before that she added a repeat Texas UIL 6A state meet performance.
But she wasn't finished with her track career just yet.
On Saturday at the Great Southwest Classic, the University of Texas signee added to her resume, clocking a time of 51.17 in the 400m to tie the U.S. No.8 all-time best performance. The cherry on top? It was also a meet record.
Although Lewis is eighth all-time, she is the seventh fastest girl. The U.S.'s top all-time high school quarter-miler, Sanya Richards, ran 50.69 as well as 51.16 in 2002 and No. 3 all-time Denean Howard at 50.87 also added a 51.17 in 1982.
Earlier in the season, Lewis broke the Texas state record and UIL state meet record with 51.45 and 51.83 performances. She also won the Texas UIL state title in the 200m going 23.43.
After running 51.17, Lewis returned to the track to run 22.94 (+1.0) in the 200m. That wind legal mark won the meet and makes Lewis TX No. 3 all-time behind Tiffany Townsend (Killeen) 22.84 in 2007 and Carlette Guidry (Houston Sterling) 22.90 in 1986.
