Jonathan Simms just completed his sophomore year at Allen High School. He accomplished nearly everything that could be attained this year. That includes a Texas UIL 6A state championship in the 400m, ran a 45.90 RPR, and won a national title in the event with a 46.09 run at the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

In his last individual race of the year he took things to the next level and cemented himself as a prep icon. He is now a world record holder and top-10 US all-time performer.

At the 2023 AAU Junior Olympic Games, Simms ran a new personal record of 45.12 in the 400m to win the 15-16 year old boys championship.

That time eclipses Obea Moore (Muir, CA) as the age group World Record for 16 year old boys. Simms lowered Moore's previous mark of 45.14 from 1995 and is also the US No. 10.

It also eclipses Aldrich Bailey's (Mansfield Timberview) 2012 45.19 as the Texas No. 1 all-time performance, per Texas Track and Field Coaches Association (TTFCA) record books.

Earlier in the week, Simms won the 800m in 1:51.69 for a new personal best.
