Flower Mound won the girls team race. The Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas (CCAT) No. 1 ranked UIL 6A team and three-time defending state champs team total score was 114 points .

The Deer Creek girls from Edmond, Oklahoma injected some pizazz and finished runner-up. They scored just eleven points more than Flower Mound who finished fifth place at NXN. Sophomore Madelynn Clark was the first to cross the line for the Oklahoma squad with her 15th place finish and a time of 18:54.

The rest of the squad put on a clinic on how to run cross country. Sadie Wedge (26th), Maddie Cottier (27th), Graycie Lucas (29th), and Riley Woodcock (30th) were only separated by nine seconds with the sixth position (Cadee Shannon - 33rd) and seventh position runner Kenzie Ross (34th) right behind and with a 12 second deviation from number two runner Wedge.

Deer Creek will again be a force in Oklahoma this year, but could make an even bigger impact at the Nike Cross South Region.

Aledo was just two points behind Deer Creek. They are the CCCAT No. 9 ranked UIL 5A team and were coming off an outstanding team run at Southlake last week.
