Addison Hite crosses the finish line with her second 3,200m title
Konnar McClendon, a junior from Canadian took off strong and led the way through the first lap, with a 1:16. Addison Hite the senior from Pilot Point also the defending 3200 State Champion came through in second at 1:17 with Brooklyn Albert a sophomore from Poth coming through in 3rd place at 1:18.
Things bunched up a little with Hite taking over the lead, McClendon moved down to second and Albert settled into 3rd place.
Moving at a steady pace through 3 laps, Hite was still the leader with Albert and Cara Sims, a sophomore from Elysian Fields, moved into third and both were still close on her heels.
Albert and Hite running shoulder to shoulder came through 1600 with Hite hanging onto the lead with a 5:28.
Hite, Albert, and Sims pulled away from the pack with Hite coming through the 5th lap at 6:51.
Hite continued to dominate and the lead became a pack of two with Albert not letting her get too far ahead with two laps to go.
Hite pulled away in the final lap coming across at 9:39 with a 10 meter lead over Albert and with 200 meters to go Hite put it into another gear and won gold with a 10:57. Sims then turned on the jets with 100 to go and captured 2nd with a 11:00 and Albert finished in 3rd place with 11:01.
