UIL 3A Boys 100m

With last year's runner-up and top returner from 2023 Kelshaun Johnson (Hitchcock) not competing in this event, the race was wide open.

Isaac Villa (Holliday) entered with the top regional time of 10.39, Jeremiah Durham (Wichita FAlls City View) was close with a 10.40, and Tanner Adams (Bushland) was right there with 10.41.

Perhaps, one of the best reactions to the gun ever came from Camden Capehart (Winnsboro) out of lane seven. He got a swift and early jump and after his drive phase, the race was all but over.

Capehart was free and clear as he transitioned through is phases and finished with an easy wind legal win in 10.44.

The race for the second was a close one as Durham would edge out Coy Klish (West) for the silver medal.

UIL 3A Boys 400m

Jackson Aydelott (Vernon) was the runner-up last year and Daniel Sianez (Muleshoe) was the bronze medalist in 2023 with both in this race.

The two had the top two regional marks with Aydelott turning in a 47.45 and Sianez going 47.85 at his region.

From the start, it was Enrique Rodriguez (Taft) getting an energetic start in lane 4. He had the stagger made on everyone by time he exited the backstretch and carried it through 300m.

However, Ayedelot and Ray Ochoa (Clifton) would charge hard coming off the turn. Aydelott ran to the 47.94 win and ochoa posted a 48.22 for second place.

Sianez would also kick and pull up for another bronze medal with a time of 48.39 from lane nine.

UIL 3A Boys 200m

Tanner Adams (Bushland) entered with the top regional mark of 21.83, but there were three boys who ran 21.85. So, a close race was expected.

Tanner got out well, but it was lane five Jeremiah Durham swinging off the turn in the lead. He would extend that lead as he fought off the competition and deceleration.

Dorian Aranda (Dilley) pushed up for the runner-up position in 21.67 and Christian Lee (Coldspring-Oakhurst) was right behind him in 21.68.
