UIL 5A Girls 4x100m Relay

Despite a couple difficult handoffs, Lancaster was able to get the baton around the track first in the UIL 5A girls 4x100m relay. It was a second straight title in the event for Lancaster and their time of 46.08 matched exactly what they ran in 2023.

The race was up for grabs heading into the final exchange with six teams in contention and Frisco Heritage holding a slight lead. Lancaster's Saniyah Miller ran the best anchor leg and pulled away for the victory. Fort Worth Wyatt earned runner-up honors with a time of 46.37 and Frisco Heritage settled for third place in a time of 46.40.

Seven of the nine teams posted times under 47 seconds.

UIL 5A Girls 4x200m Relay

Lancaster and Bryan Rudder were running nearly even through the first two legs of the UIL 5A 4x200m relay, but Milan Lathan gave Lancaster an outstanding third leg to take a comfortable lead and Addison Stricklin made it stand up on the final leg. Lancaster won in a time of 1:36.86.

Running out of lane #9, Fort Bend Marshall had a tough draw, but they ran well en route to a silver medal performance finishing in 1:38.21. The race for the bronze medal came down to three teams and it was Bryan Rudder pulling it out with a time of 1:38.66.

Lancaster were the silver medalists in the event in 2022 while Fort Bend Marshall finished fourth last year.

UIL 5A Girls 4x400m Relay

The Lancaster 4x400m relay team entered the UIL 5A State meet with the fastest time in the State and that proved true. They got a fabulous first two legs from Datavia Hunter and Milan Lathan to build up their lead and hit the halfway point in 1:50.71 and they won in a time of 3:45.38 and were not challenged until the very end when Lucas Lovejoy and Smithson Valley nearly ran them down.

Lovejoy trailed Lancaster by almost three seconds at the midway point and Smithson Valley was over five seconds behind. Lovejoy would pass up both Fort Bend Marshall and Red Oak over the final two laps to finish in 3:46.05 and grab second place. Smithson Valley was in sixth place after two laps, but Mia Perez ran the fastest third leg of anyone at 56.51 and Jazmyn Singh ran the fastest anchor leg at 54.04 to rally them up to third place in a time of 3:46.47.

Lancaster swept all three relays and took home the overall State team title.
