1A Girls 100m Hurdles

Emily Jackson a senior from Bronte came in with the fastest time from regionals with a time of 16.01 and also last year's bronze medalist. Jacee Glasgow a senior from Bloomburg came in with the second fastest time from regionals and Giselle Esparza a junior from Wildorado came in with the third fastest time with a 16.43.

Brenna Francis a senior from Silverton got out first and pushed the pace with Jackson coming on hard. The two were going at it hurdle for hurdle, but it was Jackson that came across the line first and captured the gold with a time of 15.57. Francis finished in second with a time of 15.93 and Esparza won the bronze with a time of 16.27.

1A Girls 300m Hurdles

Gracie Lain a freshman from Gordon in lane five had the fastest time coming into the state meet with a 47.76 from regionals. Lane four was Maddie Francis a sophomore from Silverton had the second fastest time and was also the reigning gold medalist. Lily Cunningham a senior from Throckmorton had the third fastest time from regionals with a time of 48.14.

It was Lain over the hurdles first with Cunningham in hot pursuit and not far behind. Lain led coming around the turn and down the home stretch, but on the next to the last hurdle she bobbled, hit the hurdle and opened the door for Cunningham.

To no avail though Lain making her UIL State meet debut, held strong and crossed first to capture the gold with a time of 43.73. Cunningham held on for the silver with a time of 44.17 and Giselle Esparza a junior from Wildorado received the bronze with a time of 46.09.
