UIL 6A Girls 100 Hurdles
In 2023, Cypress Ridge's Rylee Hampton got the better of Bridgeland's Lillian Harden in the UIL 6A Girls 100H. Harden turned the tables in 2024 and took the gold medal in a time of 13.52.
Despite being on the shelf all season long until district, Hampton was able to scratch and claw her way back to the state meet.
She was slightly ahead of Harden at the first hurdle but then Harden gradually pulled away until she had about a 5-meter victor at the end. Hampton will take the silver medal with her time of 13.86. Joining the duo under 14 seconds was Cy-Fair's Madison Ceasar who clocked a 13.95.
Summer Creek's Kelly Frederick was expected to be in the mix for a medal, but she clipped the next to last hurdle and went down while fighting for third place.

UIL 6A Girls 300 hurdles
It was not the prettiest race ever, but Shadow Creek junior Mackenzie Collins gutted out the victory in the UIL 6A Girls 300H.
Collins stuttered badly on her first two hurdles, but her overwhelming speed got her back in the race and she was running head-to-head against last year's silver medalist, Isabella Dagrosa of San Antonio Reagan, with three hurdles remaining. Collins had a half-stride lead over Dagrosa heading into the final hurdle and she was able to get through it cleanly and finished in 41.59.
Dagrosa ran her normal race and moved to the front of the pack within the first three hurdles. She nearly matched her time from 2023 and brought home her second straight silver medal with a time of 41.84.
Bridgeland's Lillian Harden, the 100H gold medalist, mounted a furious charge over the final few hurdles and nearly caught both Collins and Dagrosa. She broke 42 seconds and finished in 41.91 to grab the bronze medal.
