Jayden Keys (Katy Tompkins) entered as the top returner from last year's state meet as the bronze medalists and Mason Dossett (Ridge Point) was sixth last year.

Things were way faster for both young men entering this meet. Dossett entered as TX No.1 all-time hurdler; he also had the top regional time of 13.39.

After the gun, it was all Dossett and Keys at the first hurdle all of the way to the end.

Dossett would net a time of 13.44 (-1.0) to win his first state title as Keys went 13.62 to improve from bronze in 2023 to this year's silver medal. Coppell's Aidan McFarlane ran 14.00 to place third overall.

Again, it was Keys entering as last year's bronze medal winner in the 300H. He also had the to regional performance entering the meet with his 36.72 run.

Throughout the day, he had already collected a gold medal in the boys long jump, silver in the 100H, and led his Tompkins squad to one of the fastest performances of all-times with their 39.85.

In the 300H event, Keys was out fast and quick as he was the first runner to the first two hurdles. Who knew that would be enough to decide the race? He would never be challenged as he continued to lead all of the way through the finish line.

It was Klein Collins' Andrew Jones who was the closest to Keys heading into the final three hurdles. However, James Ledbetter (Katy Jordan) put on a final surge to pass him coming off the final barrier.

Keys won with a time of 36.28, Ledbetter was runner-up in 36.69, and Jones third in 36.89.
