Elton Ervin, Humble Atascocita Boys Head Track and Field Coach

In his first year at Humble Atascocita, Elton Ervin brought in a new culture, new workouts, and a new vibe to the program.
With a loaded stable of sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers, Ervin brought in his own mindset, strategy, and coaching/training philosophy. He looks to have created a buzz inside the Atascocita program and that led to a 2024 track and field season few saw coming.
Atascocita won the UIL 6A boys track and field state championships and set a national record in the 4x100 relay with a 38.92 as well as the second fastest time ever with their 39.14 run they used to win the UIL 6A state meet in the event.
In the interview, Ervin openly admits to certain philosophies and decision making reasons for some of the paths he took the program down this seasons.
Is Ervin the Boys Coach of the Year in Texas and nationally? Well, there is an argument to be made; directing a team to the fastest times ever in an event and smashing the national record many thought might never be broken is a good argumentative point.
His Atascocita squad also defeated the Duncanville team who also broke a national record and has been one of the most consistent teams nationally over the past three years.
