Sophia Bendet (Randolph) was one of several Texans who competed at the Festival of Miles yesterday; she ran the fastest 800m race of her career.

As the rabbit/pacesetter pulled off the track, a couple of runners were left to pull through the second half of the race; one of those runners was Bendet. She slung off the final turn with a slim lead and only 100-meters separating her and a national event win.

In the end, Tessa Buswell (SD) was able to slide ahead of Bendet into the finish line over the final couple of meters to take the win. Benet, the Randolph junior ran 2:06.65 to come away with a runner-up performance. It was also the TX No. 9 all-time performance.

Also in the race was Faith Murphy (Austin Anderson). She finished ninth overall with another sub 2:10 performance, her third in a row.

In the boys 800m, Alabama signee Adin Lathrop (Bridgeland) finished eighth with a time of 1:52.05.

It was just a couple of days ago when Adam Burlison (Amarillo) and Caden Leonard (Southlake Carroll) both ran TX all-time top ten runs in the mile. Last night, they did it again.

In the boys championship race, Burlison ran 4:04.19 and Leonard ran 4:04.49; the two finished seventh place and ninth place respectively. Leonard was the only non junior or senior in the field.

In the boys championship race, Holliday sophomore Noah Strohman ran 4:07.57 and placed seventh place overall.

In the girls championship mile, Nicole Humphries (Flower Mound) placed 13th in 4:56.85. Former Texas homeschool middle schooler Elin Latta ran in the elite race. The eighth grader placed second in the heat in a new personal best time of 4:46.73.
