Houston Episcopal Grad Karson Gordon Wins Silver At U20s

Karson Gordon sails through the air to win the 2023 Texas Relays triple jump competition in a new Texas Relays recond of 53-1

Recent Houston Episcopal graduate Karson Gordon won the Silver Medal at the 2024 U20 World Championships in Lima, Peru.

With a jump of 16.74 meters (+0.6), which equals to 54 feet and 11.5 inches, Gordon finished in the second position behind Gold Medalist Great Britain's Ethan Oliver (17.01). Ma Yinglong from China won the bronze with a best jump of the competition of 16.30.

With his jump in Peru this morning, Gordon extended his personal best from 53-1 which he jumped at the Texas Relays this past spring.

The 54-11.50 jump in Peru is longer than the high school National Record of 54-10.25 set in 2004 by Kenny Hall from Baton Rouge Tara HS. However, since Gordon's graduation, he has been active in the UCLA football team activities, he is eligible to still qualify as a prep athlete.

Gordon lept 52-1.25 at the USATF U20 Championships for first place to qualify for Team USA and the U20 Championships.

The newly minted silver medalist will head back to California where he will compete in both football and track and field. He is expected to challenge for UCLA's two-man positional depth chart at QB.
