Cara Sims is one of the several East Texas runners who are enjoying a fascinating 2024 cross country season.

Today, the Elysian Fields junior added to her resume with a win at the McNeil Invitational. She crossed the 1A - 3A race in first thanks to her time of 11:33.

Sims was just about unchallenged until a late push from fellow junior Brooklyn Albert (Poth) who was the only other runner under 12-minutes with her 11:54 run.

The Hamilton girls won the team race by turning in a 12:51 average and a 50-second gap. The top ranked 2A girls team held off an impressive race from No. 4 ranked 3A girls team Lytle who ran a 13:07 average.
