Texas A&M 60m Shaping Up To Be Very Fast

Brayden Williams is one of the 60m entries to watch

Texas A&M High School Indoor Registration Coaches Band FAQs

High school indoor track and field has been absent for a couple of years at Texas A&M University.

This year, it is back!

The first high school indoor track and field action at the R.A. Murray Fasken '38 Indoor Track facility will take place with the 2025 Texas High School Indoor Championships.

There are three reasons the indoor 60m at this meet will be fast. One, it is an indoor meet, so there will be neither weather nor elements to restrict performance.

Two, the facilities are state of the art at Texas A&M University. Standards at A&M are just better or on the cutting edge technologically.

Finally, this is Texas and the coaching and talent in the state is second to none. While the 2024 track and field season was blazing fast in the sprints and at an all-time best, this year could be better and faster.

Registration for the event has been open and closes at noon on January 7th. Late registration immediately follows the closing and lasting to January 9th at 9p.m.

Check out some current 60m entries that stand out for the 2025 Texas A&M High School Championships.

Boys 60m Entries To Watch

Michael Rucker (Spring DeKaney)

Rucker was a star from last indoor season. The unattached entrant ran 6.82 at the FasTrak Athletix High School Indoor Challenge in 2023. He didn't race much outdoors, but had an early 10.51(w).

Josiah Sapp (Frisco Heritage)

Sapp will compete with his North Texas Jackrabbits club and will look to return to his 6.82 and 21.26 form from last year's Great Southwest Indoor. Like with Rucker, we didn't get to see much individually from Sapp outdoors. He did go 10.45 (w) along with a 21.20 in the 200m and then finished sixth in 200m at the 2023 5A state meet.

Kaleb Samuels (Pearland)

Samuels isn't a runner who will be on the radar of many unless you are aware of his 6.87 run on 12/15 this year to win the FasTrak Athletix High School Indoor Challenge. The unattached entrant only has a 11.04 outdoor 100m best, but he is clearly a 10.5ish guy based on his 60m time.

Justin Stewart (Hurst Bell)

Running for his AP Ranch club, Stewart isn't one we have to wonder if he run a fast race. The 6.74 on his resume l and the 6.84 at last year's Nike Indoor Nationals assures he will be a tone setter at A&M.

Stewart didn't run outdoors until June when he went 10.53 and 21.35. As a freshman, he was sixth at the UIL 6A state meet and ran 10.36w and 21.24 that year. When healthy, he is one of the fastest high school boys in the country.

Tate Taylor (San Antonio Harlan)

There is no need to wonder about Taylor either. The San Antonio Swift TC entry ran 6.75 and 21.06 last year at the New Balance Nationals Indoor Nationals. Outdoors, Taylor continued his impressive sprinting; he was second at the UIL 6A state meet with his 10.28 run and was fourth in the 200m at 21.15.

Overall, he ended his summer going 10.23 and 20.66 at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships.

Brayden Williams (Duncanville)

Georgia signee, Williams was excellent all season long on the historical Duncanville 4x100 and 4x200 relays he is a national record holder in the latter, but he also had a good individual season. He was sixth in the 100m at the UIL 6A state meet. Over the summer, Williams became one of the few Texas boys to run 10.1.

Running for his AP Ranch club, he enters with a 6.72 personal best in the 60m.

Jayden Finley (Duncanville)

Newly acquired sprinter and Georgia signee will make this a bombastic event. The AP Ranch sprinter is an unquestionable talent and his 6.61 should make him the favorite.

In 2023, for North Richland Hills, he was third at the UIL 5A state meet 100m in his sophomore season. Finley didn't race in 2024 until the summer. All he did was run 10.11 (w) at the Great Southwest Track & Field Classic and a 10.25 or elevation.

Cordial Vann (Frisco Heritage)

Vann, the University of Southern California signee is a straight up speedster. Last year was a challenge for him as he tried to compete in UIL, but he more than proved he is a beast. Indoors he had a 6.73 personal best and ran under 6.79four times last indoor season. He won the Nike Indoor Nationals 60m in the event last season.

The Major Impact club athlete won the 100 at the Texas Relays and after the UIL season he ran 10.23 (w) and long jumped 25-6.75 (w).

Curtis Ewan (Liberty Christian)

An under the radar entry in the 60 is Ewan. The TAPPS hurdle star can run every sprint and hurdle event 400m and under. He enters with a 6.90 seed and helped lead the Liberty Christian 4x100 relay last season.

DeVun Brandon (McKinney North)

Another under the radar entry is Brandon. He has a 6.80 seed and has a 10.69 100m performance on his resume.

Girls 60m Entries To Watch

Aaliyah Barnes (Killeen)

Killeen speedster Barnes just ran 7.40 on 12/15 in Houston and has also has a legit 7.43 on record from the Arkansas HS Inv. The Leander Spartans TC sprinter was third last year at the adidas Track Nationals and ran 11.78 outdoors last spring.

Celeste Robinson (Houston Cypress Ranch)

There is no need to question the talent of Robinson. While she was third in the 100m and 200m at the 2024 UIL 6A state meet, she won the 100m in 2023.

Registered to compete under AMAX Speed, the Georgia signee has a 7.48 60m PR and 11.34, 22.82, and 55.16 outdoor bests.

Taylor Nunez (Universal City Randolph) - Another AMAX Speed runner and Texas UIL state champion, Nunez will be one to keep an eye on. The Texas A&M has a three 3A state titles in each of three different individual events. Her 7.50 60m PR has her securely as one of the top entries in this event.

Kylah Woods (Fort Bend Ridge Point)

Woods is the third athlete on this list who will race under AMAX Speed in this event. As with Nunez, she also has a 7.50 best run in the 60m. Woods is a complete sprinter with her 60m - 400m range and outdoor bests of 11.51, 23.85, and 57.10.

Ariyanna Griggs (St. Thomas Aquinas, FL)

Don't sleep on Griggs as she has gone 7.60 twice at 60m. The Floridian went 11.75 last year and 24.10. In 2022, she ran PRs of 11.65w and was second at the FHSAA state meet in the 100m and in the 200m she went 23.65 in the 200m in 2022.

Caitlyn Cavitt (Arlington Martin)

Cavitt just went 7.62 last year in Houston at the FasTrak meet. The combined long jumper and sprinter is a legitimate star. She went 19-11.25 last month in the long jump and could be looking to add an elite mark in the 60m.

The AP Ranch club member went 11.62 last spring.

Jada Edwards (Red Oak)

Edwards is another AP Ranch sprinter who we are keeping an eye on. Her 7.64 entry time is from last year's Carl Lewis Inv. and it ties with an a 11.69 run at last season's Region 2-5A,.

Edwards finished sixth at the UIL 5A state meet.

Angel Brefo (Midlothian Heritage)

Running unattached, Brefo jus might be one the most exciting athletes on the track this year. The junior won a 400m state championship last spring, but don't let that and her 7.65 PR deter you from thinking she is a sprinter.

Brefo was third at the UIL 5A state meet last year at 11.65 and has a 11.47 on record. She has bests of 23.80 and 53.41 in her first two years in high school.

Nia Trammell (Ft Worth Wyatt)

Much like the other runners who will be in an AP Ranch uniform, Trammell will stand out. She has a 7.66 run over 60m at last year's Nike Indoor Nationals. With personal bests of 11.92,24.4, and 53.80, she has range.

Eguonome Akpobassa (Bridgeland)

Akpobassa has a 7.66 PR and entry in the 60m. The Bridgeland sprinter only has a 12.03 PR, but could get off to a good start to this season.

Samantha Ennin (Plano John Paul II)

Yes, Ennin is other wordly in the jump events; her 21-1.25 and 41-11.5 indoor jumps from this season already proves that.

However, don't overlook the radiance from this TAPPS superstar track and field athlete. The Stanford signee and North Texas Jackrabbits TC runner has 11.93 and 24.81 prominence that won TAPPS sprint titles last year. She should out run her 7.69 entry seed.

Skylar Brazzell (Northwest Nelson)

Yet another AP Ranch and Georgia signee who will be undeniable is Brazzell. The Northwest Nelson senior only has a 7.82 seed time, but she has gone 7.65 in her career.

Brazzell not only has individual UIL 6A state meet medals, but she has indoor stats of 23.85, and 54.45 to go with her 7.65 and outdoors she has gone 11.50, 23.31, and 53.55.

Kennedy Branch (Melissa)

Branch might be an under rated runner in this field. Her 7.74 best from the FasTrack meet in 2023 is her best in the 60m. However, the IBTT TC and Melissa star can fly. she has 11.93 and 24.42 personal bests.
