FRISCO, Texas - A stabbing at David Kuykendall Stadium during the UIL District 11-5A Track and Field Championships turned fatal Tuesday morning, according to the Frisco Police Department.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 10 a.m. when one student stabbed another. The victim was transported to a hospital but later died from their injuries.
The suspect been taken into custody and charged with murder. Frisco Memorial junior and 17-year old, Austin Metcalf was named as the victim.
The meet has been postponed and is now scheduled to resume on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Little Elm High School with the finals.
Frisco ISD and the Frisco police are conducting investigations. UIL district track and field events, are taking place statewide this week and are to be completed Saturday.
