Several Texas high school athletes posted personal records at regional meets during the first week of May.
Chris Hornbuckle (Kingdom Collegiate Academy) threw 156-11 in the discus at the 2026 TCSAAL Track & Field State Championships on May 2, improving from his previous best of 133-6. The junior's mark ranks #143 in Texas and #39 among juniors statewide, and it set a school record for Kingdom Collegiate Academy.
Maliah Norris (Timpson) ran 15.00 in the 100m hurdles at UIL 2A Region III on May 1, dropping from her previous personal record of 16.06 set in April 2026. The mark ranks #139 in Texas and established a new school record for Timpson. Norris also set a personal record in the 300m hurdles, improving from 47.63 to 47.36.
T'Landria Williams (Mansfield Lake Ridge) cleared 5-9 in the high jump at UIL 5A Region II & UIL 6A Region I on May 1, improving from her previous best of 5-6 from April 2026. The sophomore's mark ranks #7 in Texas and #1 among sophomores statewide, and it set a school record for Mansfield Lake Ridge.
Tanner Ragan (El Paso El Dorado) threw 57-4 in the shot put at UIL 4A Region I & UIL 5A Region I on May 1, improving from his previous personal record of 50-7. The senior's mark ranks #29 in Texas and #12 among seniors statewide, and it established a school record for El Paso El Dorado.
Colton Anderwald (Tuloso-Midway) ran 9:29.04 in the 3200 meters at UIL 2A Region IV & UIL 4A Region IV on May 1, improving from his previous best of 10:02.92. The sophomore's time ranks #88 in Texas and #12 among sophomores statewide. Anderwald also set a personal record in the 1600 meters, improving from 4:34.52 to 4:29.22.
