Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Carson Clark, Tomball Concordia Lutheran (Texas): Swept the sprint events at the TAPPS State Championships with times of 10.55 in the 100 and 21.70 in the 200. Won both races convincingly, taking the 100 by defeating a field of 47 and the 200 against 44 competitors.
Jett Jackson, Plano John Paul II (Texas): Dominated the hurdles at the TAPPS State Championships, clocking 14.04 to win the 110 hurdles and 37.27 to capture the 300 hurdles title. Also competed in the long jump, finishing 11th with a mark of 21-6.75.
John Boland, San Antonio Antonian (Texas): Claimed distance double at the TAPPS State Championships with victories in the 1600 (4:12.13) and 3200 (9:00.23). The #2 junior in Texas in the 3200 and #3 junior in the 1600, he defeated state-ranked Elijah Zuniga in the mile before finishing fifth in the 800 with 1:56.86.
Elijah Zuniga, Spring Providence Classical School (Texas): Won the 800 at the TAPPS State Championships in 1:53.37, beating state-ranked John Boland in the process. The #5 junior in Texas in both the 800 and 1600, he also placed third in the mile with a time of 4:14.72.
Rowdy Pearce, Midland Christian (Texas): Threw 58-2.5 to win the shot put at the TAPPS State Championships, defeating a field of 48 competitors.
