Twice as Nice for Camden Capehart With 20.48 Win In 3A 200m

2026 UIL Track and Field State Championships

The question was, "What would Camden Capehart do for an encore?" after his mind-bending 100m race.

The answer came swiftly, as usual, for the Winnsboro star who earlier in the meet had won the UIL 3A Boys 100m in a State meet record and #7 all-time high school record time of 10.02. He faced a stiffer challenge in the UIL 3A Boys 200m final with Little River Academy's Jayvion White playing the foil.

Capehart and White, running two lanes apart from each other, came around the bend nearly even. Capehart's top-end speed proved to be a little too much for White to handle, but both runners destroyed the previous State record of 21.04. Capehart crossed the line in 20.48 and White in 20.64 with a wind reading of +2.4.

The top six finishers in the race were all seniors. Hallettsville's Cole Edmonds claimed the bronze medal after racing to a time of 21.18. White was runner-up for a second year in a row in the 200m after running 20.78 in 2025.
