The nation's top 10 boys cross country programs as of Sept. 10
Week 1 is in the books for most of the state's top programs. At meets in El Paso, Denton, and Huntsville, the preseason projections were confirmed, complicated, or clarified by actual race results.The defending state champion compressed their 1-5 split by more than 20 seconds from last year's state meet. The fastest individual 5K opener in the state came in at national No. 2. A program that wasn't in last week's preseason top ten made a compelling case for inclusion. And one team won a loaded invitational without a single scorer in the top three.
