The nation's top 10 girls cross country programs as of Sept. 10
Texas girls cross country opened its Week 1 with something rare: the majority of this top ten competing at the same two meets, giving us more direct head-to-head evidence this early in the season than most years provide. At the Southlake 5K XC Invite, five of this top ten ran against each other in a single elite race. At the Coach T Marcus Invitational in Denton, four more met in the same field. Only one team in this ranking ran at a separate meet.
The result is a clearer picture of the state's competitive landscape in early September than most seasons offer - and the data tells a story about where the gaps are, where the surprises were, and where November's state meet picture is already being written.
