Virginians did not waste anytime this Saturday as they lit up the track in the relays winning four national titles with the baton and one national title in the jumps. Leading the way for these performances was Western Branch's A shuttle hurdle relay squad, we do have to denote that this is the "A" squad because their "B" squad finished as the national runners-up. This team comprised of Funlayo Oluwole, Irielle Little, Milan Parks, and Ebony White ran a national record 56.55 to win the event. 

After the last gun has gone off and the smoke has slowly cleared the state meet was officially over. Though it is now over and all the fans have left Todd Stadium, what happened there has not changed. Here is the complete recap of this past weekend's action that took place at Todd Stadium in Newport News. 

With under a week until the 2014 installment of the New Balance National Indoor Nationals, it is now time to see who will not only come home with a title but who will produce the best performance. 

MileSplit US was able to generate national girls indoor track & field team rankings virtually using the performances in our national stats database as January 16th and inputted into our results program RaceTab. We have selected all the events contested at the indoor nationals to be used for the rankings with the exception of the rarely contested racewalk, pentathlon, 4xmile, and 800 SMR. USTFCCCA's standardized conversion chart was used to convert performances in events in similar distance such as 55 meter dash/hurdles times into 60 meter dash/hurdles times, 300 meter dash times into 200 meter dash times, and 500 meter dash times into 400 meter dash times.

Highlights from the Atlantic Coast Invitational held on Saturday, June 22nd at Lakeland High School in Suffolk.

  A list of the top returning individuals in each event among Eastern Region Region schools from last year's outdoor season and links to full returnees rankings lists in each event. Great Bridge's Heather Smith was able to improve drastically in the 55 meter hurdles this past indoor season to get her time down to 8.12 in the event, but she is going to feel truly at home now that outdoor season has come so she can compete in her best event in the 300 meter hurdles. The defending Group AAA state 300 meter hurdles champion with a personal best of 43.54, the University of Virginia signee Smith is back to defend her state outdoor title and expects also to challenge for a 60 second time in the 400 meter hurdles in the post-season and summer.
