UIL Region III Cross Country Championships
Date: Monday, November 9 (3A & 5A) & Tuesday, November 10 (4A, 2A & 6A)
Location: Kate Barr-Ross Park
Entry Deadline: Tuesday, November 3 at 5:00 pm
Qualifying from District to Region: "A maximum of the top TWO teams and top ten individuals shall qualify from district to regionals."
***ONLY enter through Direct Athletics if you have qualified a team or individual for the regional championships***
Qualifying from Region to State: "A maximum of the top THREE teams and top ten individuals, not on a qualifying team, shall qualify from regionals to state."
Entry Procedure: All entries will be done online through Direct Athletics.

Each coach of qualifying individuals/teams is responsible for entering their own athletes! Do NOT rely on the district chairperson to do this! Coaches of qualifying teams may enter up to 10 athletes for a team (7 racers + 3 alternates). All competing athletes must be certified and eligible by UIL rules. You must declare your 7 runners at packet pickup. The bib numbers and chips for any non-competing athletes must be turned in at packet pickup.
Please enter your 3 alternates on Direct Athletics. This will prevent us from having to make changes and assign new bibs/chips at the competition site. You will NOT be charged extra for the alternates you enter.
Additional Entry Information: "Only the teams and individuals qualifying through the district and regional meet are eligible to advance to the state meet. Teams qualify as a school and substitution of team members is allowed. Regional and state meet directors must be notified of any substitutions."

Entry Fee: Individual entries are $20 per athlete entered into the competition. Team entries are $200 per team and teams may enter up to 10 athletes (7 competitors, 3 alternates). All alternates must be entered via Direct Athletics!!!!

To pay via credit card, please call (936) 294-3355 during normal business hours (8am to 5pm) Monday through Friday. If no answer, please leave a voicemail and your call will be returned.
Parking: Parking is $10 per vehicle (cash only). There will be no cost of parking for school buses and clearly marked school vehicles (no passes needed). Unmarked school vehicles need to email cbb012@shsu.edu prior to 5pm on Friday, November 6 and your name will be placed on a pass list to allow you entrance to the park.
Packet Pickup: Packet Pickup for each division will take place ONLY at the following times:
3A: Monday from 7:45 am until 9:00 am
5A: Monday from 10:45 am until 12 noon
4A: Tuesday from 7:45 am until 9:00 am
2A: Tuesday from 10:45 am until 12 noon
6A: Tuesday from 1:45 pm until 3:00 pm
Numbers: Numbers, pins and timing chips will be found in each packet. Each number will be assigned to a specific athlete. Please be sure that each athlete's number is visible on the front of their uniform and the athlete has their assigned chip securely attached to their shoe.
Timing Chips: All timing chips must be returned! We will NOT be cutting timing chips off of shoes at the finish line. Instead, there will be several 5-gallon buckets placed around the finish area and team camps for which chips need to be returned. Coaches, please make sure that your timing chips are returned for all athletes. Your school will be charged for any unreturned timing chips.
Team Scoring: Team scores will be computed by totaling the top five runners' finish positions. The 6th and 7th runners will count as displacers. Teams with less than five runners will not be totaled in the team scores.
Results: All results will be posted live at www.flashresultstexas.com and will be posted at www.gobearkats.com
Protests: Protests must be in writing and delivered to the meet referee within 30-minutes of the posting of results.
Awards: We will NOT be hosting an awards ceremony this year. We will have an awards tent on the field adjacent to the starting line. Teams/Individuals are expected to collect their awards prior to departing the competition site. If Teams/Individuals do not pick up their award at the competition site, awards will be mail in the following days.
Trophies will be awarded to the 1st place team in each division.
Medals will be awarded to the team members of the Top 3 teams in each division.
Medals will be awarded to the Top 10 individuals in each division.
T-Shirts: T-Shirts will be sold at the meet site the day of competition through Fine Designs Inc.
