Nine girls dip under 11:20 in the 3200m at the North Texas Winter 800m/3200m.
The talented girls 3200m field was unquestionably deep and one of the best assemblies so far this season, but the girls had their fair share of obstacles to fight beyond the competition.With the high winds and dust storm blowing across the North Texas area, racing was more challenging than normal.Colleyville Heritage freshman Allie Love led the field around the track to some fast times despite the challenging conditions. Love overtook the lead around the mile mark and never looked back.Serving time leading the race and in the lead pack were juniors Allison Buemi (2nd place) from Flower Mound, Breanna Stuart from Ben Shearer (The Woodlands Christian) was flowing the pace of the race until he didn't. At 1,200m Shearer began to assert himself and establish a pace most of the other athletes weren't comfortable with. The Arkansas commit hadn't run at the 3,200m distance on the track since his sophomore year when he had a PB of 9:14.22. Shearer finished the race with a new 9:06.20 PR.Ruben Reina (Har-Ber, Arkansas) was up for the challenge and kept pace with Shearer and was in tow through 2K. Reina finished in second in 9:33.46 and fellow Arkansan Jack Williams finished strong in third place.After Shearer, Reina, and Williams, the rest of the field was also impressive considering the windy and dusty stormy conditions.
