6A (District 25) TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

April 11-12, 2023

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • The meet will take place at Monroe Stadium (Vandegrift High School) on April 11-12, 2023. Please see a detailed schedule on the next page.

  • Meet Director: Jonathan Lamb, Leander ISD

  • Meet Referee: Ricky Williams

  • Timer: Brian Whitehead, BW Sports Timing

  • Only coaches, athletes, officials and workers allowed on the field and track.

Weather:

  • Should weather be a factor, we will follow the below guidelines:

    • Rainout Dates:

    • Field events: April 11th, 2023

    • Running Prelims: April 11th, 2023

    • Running Finals: April 12th, 2023

    • Two Day Rainout: April 13th, 2023 and April 14th, 2023

SPECTATORS:

  • Spectator parking will be slim near Monroe Stadium at VHS and FPMS on Tuesday. Additional parking is available at Austin Baptist Church (7016 Ribelin Ranch Dr).

  • Spectators may sit in the home side bleachers or stand behind the fences. Spectators will not be allowed in the participant areas, field or track. Field event spectators should remain outside of the fenced area.

  • Concessions will be available for purchase.

  • Admission is free.

 

ENTRY PROTOCOL:

  • Admission is free

  • Entries must be submitted online at tx.milesplit.com by Friday, 4/7 at noon.

  • 5 events total, per entry: 3 field and 2 running or 2 field and 3 running events.  Contestants may enter 5 field events provided they are not entered in any running events. 

  • VARSITY-Seed times must be entered (sorted by heat leaders)

  • JV-Freshman - Random Seeding, (please provide seed times for finals only events)

Appeals Committee:

  • Protest goes to Meet Referee, an appeals committee is assembled (one head coach from each school), the school involved will be excluded from an appeals vote.

 

COACHES & PARTICIPANTS:

  • All Coaches, Officials, Judges and Helpers should report before 8:30am for 3200M Run and Field Events. Exchange Judges and Finish Judges should report by 4:00 pm for running events.

  • VARSITY ONLY Shot and Discus implements will be weighed in the Home Field House. Weigh in will be from 7:30-9:00 am.  UIL Implement Check-in Form

  • Pole Vault Certification can be done on site.

  • Athletic Trainers will be located outside the Away Field House.  Lunch for coaches, officials, judges, and helpers will be in the hospitality room located in the Away Field House.  No meals for Student-Athletes will be provided.

  • Bus Parking will be located on the band lot on the south side of the stadium.  Facility map.  

  • Team camps will be behind the home stands.

  • Wristbands will be given to each team to access the turf/track. BLUE wristbands for TUESDAY and GREEN wristbands for WEDNESDAY. Access will not be granted without the correct wristbands.

  • NO FOOD OF ANY KIND ON TURF, ONLY WATER!

  • Water stations for athletes will be located near events.

  • A Fully Automated Timing/Finish Lynx (F.A.T.) and HY-TEK will be used for timing and results provided by BWSPORTSTIMING.

  • Scratch Meeting will take place at 8:00 am the morning of the meet in the Away Field House at Monroe Stadium..

  • 1/4" Spikes are only allowed.

  • Results will be posted ASAP after every event.

  • Extra relay cards will be available at the timing tent.

  • Uniforms should follow NFHS Track and Field rules as adopted by UIL.  One minute time limit for field events, Broke implement awarded trail, exiting back of discus ring, The call "mark" and Pole vault crossbar displacement rule.

  • Only dynamic stretching exercises on turf. Relay teams can warm up on turf with coaches present. Please no static stretching...e.g. Laying down, sitting and/or standing on turf. This eliminates unnecessary traffic on turf when athletes are warming up prior to their event. Static stretching can be performed at the campsite for each team.

  • "Check in" for all running events will be located near the staging area near the finish line.  Athletes reporting to "check in" should avoid crossing the track near the start/finish line.

  • SCORING: Points will be awarded for 1st-6th place for each individual event.  Scoring will be 10-8-6-4-2-1.  The scoring for relays will be doubled.

  • Awards will be given for 1st - 3rd place medals.  Relay Champion plaques will be awarded for the Varsity Division.  Team awards will be given to Division Champion and Runner-up. 

  • Top 4 finishers in each event will advance to the AREA competition.

Contestants will be seeded randomly. 3 attempts in prelims, Top 8 advance to finals with 3 more attempts. Reverse order in finals for Shot Put, Discus, Long Jump & Triple Jump (8th place - 1st place). Must break all ties - UIL Tie Breaker Rules. All discus and shot throws will be measured, no markers. *Required opening heights. Please stick to the schedule and do not start early.
