Cedar Park Invitational Meet Recap!

Boys Varsity Race Recap

Georgetown guys won the meet scoring 121 points

Race Recap

The boys race got out quick and with the lead pack pulling away from the rest of the group early. The group consisted of Pflugerville Hendrickson's Daniel Viegra, and Justin Botello, Dripping Spring Trevor Heinz, and a pack of Cedar Park guys. By the mile mark things had started to string out a little more with Viegra taking the lead followed closely by Botello and the pack. With two miles to go Viegra had a commanding lead which he would hold to the finish. It was a surprise move late in the race from Corpus Christi King senior Parker Scott, and Luling's Buster Roberts that made this race interesting. The pair worked their way up the entire race finishing 2nd and 3rd running 16:11 and 16:26. Botello ended up in 4th running 16:37.

In the team race the first mile looked like the Cedar Park boys would be on top, but as the race played out things got interesting. The tight pack of Georgetown guys worked their way up slowly and together closing down the gap throughout the race. Another group of guys who worked their way up throughout the race were the guys from Luling. In the end the team battle was won by Georgetown High with 121 points. Their top 5 finished with only a 47 second gap between them. The surprise 2nd place team was 3A school Luling. The Luling guys scored 137 points and had only a 1:17 1-5 gap.
