Austin Bowie girls won the team title scoring 72 points
Race Recap
The girls race much like the guys got out fast lead by Round Rock's Ashley Driscoll. Driscoll took the race from the gun and never looked back. That left the rest of the field battling for second. This battle was being fought between Austin Bowie's Marissa Flournoy and Hays Buda's Esmi Fuentes. In the first mile the two were running side by side. It wasn't until just before two miles when Flournoy pulled away from Fuentes to move into second. Driscoll pulled off the win this week running 18:32, after finished 2nd last weekend too Paige Hofstad at the St. Andrews Episcopal XC Invitational. Flournoy would hold strong through the last mile to clinch the 2nd place finish running 18:50, while Fuentes placed 3rd running 19:09. Flournoy helped lead her team to the team victory in a tight battle against the girls from Dripping Springs. In the first mile of the race it looked like it was going to be a close race for the team title between Dripping Springs and Round Rock. As the race played out Austin Bowie's Carolynn Evans moved up to help the Bowie girls pace 2 in the top 10. This would help Bowie pull off the team title scoring 72 points. Dripping Springs ended up not far behind scoring 83 points to take 2nd running only a 36 second 1-5 spread.
