Summer Training Blog Week 3: Abbey Santoro

Monday 8/1/16
This morning for our run I ran with my teammate Isabel Van Camp and Keller alumni Meghan Lloyd who runs at UT now. Today we had an 8-mile long run. I love when I get to run with Meghan because she always pushes me. We negative spilt our first four miles hitting: 7:42, 7:38, 7:22, and 7:14. Our last four miles were similar pace: 7:15, 7:06, 7:16, and 7:20. I felt really good on this run and it was good for me mentally, to know that I could stay with Meghan the whole time.

Tuesday 8/2/16
Today I had a 7 mile long run by myself. This week we are working and focusing on continuing to build our mileage before we start official practices next week. The splits for my run were 7:45, 7:38, 7:51, 7:41, 7:40, 7:39, and 7:23. I have definitely found that I like running with my teammates way more than running by myself because it's harder to push yourself when you are alone, but I think that's true for most runners.

Wednesday 8/3/15
I got up at 6:05 this morning to drive to Weatherford for my driving test. If anyone cares to know... I passed! I wasn't able to run today because I had to leave so early so I'll have to get the miles that I missed in later this week.

Thursday 8/4/16
Today was another long run day. I had an 8-mile long run and my brother was nice enough to ride his bike while I ran (I may or may not have forced him to come and had to drag him out of bed). I started off really slow splitting 8:28 for my first mile, but after that, I picked up the pace. The rest of my splits were: 7:41, 7:28, 7:45, 7:35, 7:38, 7:46, and 7:23. The last 1/2 mile I ran through my neighborhood and multiple people put their sprinklers on so of course, I ran through them. Shout out to you neighbors you are the goat.

Friday 8/5/16
This morning I ran our easy 8-mile long run with  one of my old teammates Madi King. Once again we negative split our first 4 miles: 7:36, 7:34, 7:27, 7:20, and the last 4 miles were 7:30, 7:28, 7:47, and 7:32. It was fun getting to run with Madi before she goes back to college later this month!

Saturday 8/6/16
Today I had a 10-mile recovery run which I ran on a trail I usually bike on so it was cool to run on it this time. Even though it is a pretty hilly course, I felt great, especially during the second half of the run. My splits for this run were: 7:49, 7:44, 7:51, 7:58, 8:00, 7:57, 7:45, 7:57, 7:47, and 7:58. After I finished running I came back and ate some pancakes, chugged 2 water bottles, a G2, and a smoothie. It was a good day.

Sunday 8/7/16
I didn't feel like running before church this morning so I waited till 8:00 tonight to get my 4-mile shakeout run in. Tomorrow I leave for Chicago and I am dreading having to run on the treadmill again.
