Boys (Virtual Meet Preview N/A)

Who:
    Teams:LaVernia and Progresso
Individuals:Andres Uriegas, Aubrey Stewart, Eddie Gutierrez, Gabriel Magana
When: Saturday, October 29th, 9:00 - 9:30
Why: Andres Uriegas has been in some big time meets this year and looks to be primed for the championship season. Aubrey Stewart has also been to some big meets and has performed well.  Stewart won the Islander Splash earlier in the season and should challenge Uriegas for the lead.  Eddie Gutierrez and Gabriel Magana have season bests that shows they could be in contention for the lead if Uriegas or Stewart slips up. For the team race, it looks like it'll come down to LaVernia and Progresso.  LaVernia won the Islander Splash earlier in the season.

Tina Sierrra won the 2016 Islander Splash 4A race.

Girls (Virtual Meet Preview N/A)

Who:
Teams: Rio Grande Grulla, Boerne, Royals, Liberty Hills, Bandera
Individuals: Mckynzie King, Ashlyn Royal, Veronica Moreno, Tina Sierra,
Why: Mckynzie King is the runner-up from last year's regional championships and she is back to claim the title.  King has the top time coming into this meet of all the girls. There are several girls behind her looking to get to state and get a regional championship for themselves. Ashlyn Royal and Veronica Moreno ran in the low 12s to go one-two at their district meet. Tina Sierra won the Islander Splash earlier in the season on this same course and she looks to repeat that victory.

Team-wise, who can beat Bandera? For the last several years, many have tried but haven't been very successful. Bandera looks to win another state title and appears to be in good position to do so. Several other teams will look to qualify for State. Boerne, Austin Royals, Liberty Hills, and Rio Grande Grulla will all be in the mix for the remaining qualifying places.
