Texas Athletes To Watch For At Arkansas HS Inv.

SPRINT EVENTS

Kaylor Harris (2772) competing at the State meet

Did I mention Kaylor Harris will be at Arkansas? Yes, she is an amazing jumper, but she is a very capable sprinter and hurdler, as well. The Texas Tech signee will have a busy day, as she is not only entered in the Long Jump, but also in the 60m and the 60H. Last week, at the LSU High School Classic, she PRed in the 60m with a US #2 7.48 and the 60H with 8.89.

Last week at A&M, Kelcie Simmons of 3A Leonard crushed it. Simmons ran a US #3 7.52 in the 60m for the win and a US #1 24.16 200m, in the prelim. She will be at Arkansas looking to continue her hot start.

Jania Martin, of the 5A State Champions McKinney North will also be in Arkansas to make her presence felt. Martin also has an individual state title in the 200m and will look to take on fellow Texans and the rest of the field for the top spot at Arkansas.

At A&M, we saw Rosaline Effiong and Bailey Lear battle it out on the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay. Well, they're both entered in the open 400m at Arkansas. Effiong Blazed to a 55.76 PR last week, and Lear is the State runner-up, so we can see a rematch from last week's relay action with these two.

Plano's Charles Brockman is coming off of a 8.05 PR last week where he placed second in a very tough final A&M 60H final. Brockman, the Mississippi State signee will look to jump up one place to take the victory at Arkansas.

Lancaster's Jordan Hollis is another who will look to continue his indoor success from A&M. Hollis is a 400m specialist who looks to be working on his speed work by running these 60s and 200s. Hollis dropped a 7.08 and a 21.83 last week. Keep an eye on him at Arkansas.

Another 400 specialist looking to make a splash in the shorter distances is Amarillo Tascosa's Josiah MacInnis. Last year, MacInnis dropped 7.08, 21.83, and 48.65. He is a senior now, and could lower all of those PRs versus this Arkansas field.

Without Hollis and MacInnis in the 400, you could wonder if there will be any studs to represent Texas in the 400 for the boys. Well, I think you'd know the answer to that. It's a resounding YES! There will be several finalists from A&M amongst others who will be looking to run fast at Arkansas. Jadon Johnson, Cameron Neely, Kobe Daniels, Glenn Bender, Tyrell Valentine, and Jared Williams all ran under 50.00 last week and will be looking to PR at Arkansas.
