Region 3-5A Preview

Girls 3200m

The girls 3200 will definitely be one to watch.  All of these girls are within striking range time wise and they're all young. There is always the in race mental game factor when it comes to young distance runners. All of these girls come from good distance programs, so that could be minimized as they are all well coached runners. Rouse's Emily Forster and Brenham's Meredith Clayton have the season best time advantage over the rest of the girls.

SLEEPER: Laura Tonchina is fairly new to running but she is very competitive. If she keeps contact with the girls watch out for her to make a strong push for a qualifying spot.

Girls 4x100

All three girls relays will be good, but the 4x100 could be very tight. Port Arthur Memorial is the top ranked team coming into the meet and they are coming down a classification from 6A to 5A. They've been running well all season and now they should be looking to punching their ticket to the state meet. Fort Bend Marshall is another team that has been running better and better as the season progressed. The 4x100 is the only relay that Marshall is not the top ranked team, but it could possibly be their best relay. Keep an eye on Humble as they are not far from Memorial and Marshall. If the race is close at the last exchange and have their sprint star Arianna West on anchor, things could get real interesting.
