Texas 4x400 Teams Own The AAU Junior Olympic Games Finale

17-18 Year Old Divisions

The 17-18 year old girls division was one of the few races that wasn't filled with Texas participants. It only had one Texas team to represent, but the one we had really represented. Xtreme Force TC from the Round Rock-Austin area was the lone Lone Star team to qualify for the final. That leaves a lot of riding on them to take on the nation's best girls. That didn't bother them one bit, Xtreme Force battled perennial top club teams like Motor City, Virginia Elite, and Aurora Flyers. In one of the closest and most entertaining races of the day, Xtreme Force flexed their Texas muscles and claimed the top spot with a 3:49.82, but not before the race had it's share of lead changes and back and forth's, which is a further credit to Xtreme Force's toughness.

The Boys 17-18 year old 4x400 race was pretty much like the 15-16 year old boys race. It was almost a for gone conclusion that The Wings Track Club would win and some thought they'd go 1-2. The St. Louis Blues were one of the obstacles that would be in the way of the Houston area club's plans. When the race started, it looked to be all The Wings as both the A and B team was running 1-2 through the second leg. The St. Louis Blues would show why they were a threat with a 46.x third leg to pull in from of both Wings squads. The Wings B team would all but lose their quest for the title as they were involved in a trip and fall at the convoluted exchange zone. The Wings A team would eventually pull off the lead and the win. They won with a 3:11.97 over the St. Louis Blues' 3:14.83.

The Wing B team would recover from the fall and wind up with a fourth place finish in 3:18.83. CL Stars would also medal with a 3:23.71 for 8th place.
