The UIL 6A cross country champion was able to win his second state title with his 3,200m win on the track. He didn't wait for outdoor to get things started as he ran 4:14.47 in the indoor 1 mile.

Outdoors, he had the most sub 9:00 races of any other Texas runner this season. He started off the year with a 8:59.88 at the North Texas Winter 3200m/800m  then ended the year with three in a row with a 8:59.14 at Region 4-6A, 8:57.85 to win state, and then 8:50.91 for a TX No. 5 A-T and No. 2 this season.

Sanchez' 8:50.91 win was at a national level event when he won the RunningLane Track Championships; he added other PRs in the 800m - 1:58.17, 1,600m - 4:11.55, and 5,000m - 14:34.47
