Luke McMullen Sprint Doubles And And Lucas Rizo wins 400m



It appeared to be just another day in the office for Luke McMullen of Jefferson. From start to finish, the senior seemed to be at ease and took control of the race in which he was the favorite, crossing in a time of 10.51. The Hitchcock underclassmen Kelshaun Johnson may have come in with the fastest time out of regionals but was unable to repeat that time as he finished second in 10.74 seconds. In a tight race for third, Vernon's Case Fleming edged out Taft's Enrique Rodriguez in a time of 10.83 seconds for the final podium spot.

It was a tightly contested quarter mile with about five athletes vying for their spot on the podium. In the end, it was Crane senior Lucas Rizo that had the last laugh with a winning time of 48.12. Running on the inside lane, it was just a matter of time before he gained the edge of his opponents. Jackson Aydelott, the sophomore out of Vernon, contested well and held on to the silver medal in a time of 48.58. Muleshoe's Daniel Sianez took the final podium spot with a time of 48.94 by just under a tenth of a second.


200-meter dash:

Following a clean start, Luke McMullen added another title to his belt with a winning time of 21.23 in the 200-meter dash to go along with his title in the 100-meter. The Jefferson senior took full control of the race and, though he was threatened by Andon Mata of New London West Rusk, he used his speed down the final meters of the race to take his second win of the day. Mata held on to the silver medal spot with a time of 21.68. The battle for third resulted in a photo finish between Breckenridge's Sawyer Wimberley just edging out Brock's   by just .02 seconds.
