The environment at The Star on Friday night was electric. The biggest moment of the night came when Tara Davis (Agoura, CA) pumped up the crowd and leaped to a new U.S. #1 and national record mark of 21'11". Davis is from California but competes in Texas quite a bit because she has family in the DFW area.
"With them here they gave me the most support I've ever had at a meet, so it's overall just the best feeling," said Davis after her jump.
Davis's jump shatters Carol Lewis's (Willingboro, New Jersey) 36-year-old national record mark of 21'7.5".
Coincidentally, that record was set in Dallas back on January 31st, 1981, so there's something to be said about indoor track in North Texas. Davis will compete in the triple jump and 60mH's tomorrow. Watch the jump below and follow along with all our coverage from the Dunamis Sports Group Prep Classic.
