Del Rio Cross-country teams slay Dragon

The Del Rio High School boys cross-country team did little to diminish its top 10 state ranking.

The boys cross-country team started the 2006 season ranked seventh in the state among all 5A schools in the state.

The rankings were determined by votes cast by the Cross-Country Coaches Association of Texas.

Saturday, Del Rio defended its lofty status as the boys took first at the Dragon Invitational meet held at Southwest High School in San Antonio.

Twenty-six teams, and more than 200 runners, took part in the boys division. Each runner competed on a 3.1-mile long course.
