Boys 100m

State of the Action: Kicking off with the D1 finals, Jay Bradford told me the day before that he wanted to be the first Texan under 10.5, and he did just that. Winning his title just under the 10.50 mark.
But once the D1 boys toed the line we would even see some faster times dropped. John Lewis was the fastest qualifier in the prelims and he came out ready to roll. He was flying! Literally and figuratively! Sophomore London Dunn has been making a big impression this season as he mixes it up with the upper classmen and hit a US #4.

Boys 110H

State of the Action: Credit to Springfield for being the 110H D1 champion. He won in a tight battle, but the highlight was going to be the D2 with the best in the country ready to reset the national rankings.

Coming into the meet, McWilliams didn't have the resume as some of these other All Stars, but he posted the fastest time out of the prelims showing he wasn't going to be overlooked. The Grimes duo has been hitting fast times in the hurdles this season, but they couldn't match McWilliams and Armstead. Those two had an incredibly tight battle only to be separated by .01s! The depth of this field was no joke! All 7 times now ranking in the US Top-11 with McWilliams & Armstead #1.

1 4733 Dillon Springfield 12 Springtown 14.24 5.1

Boys 300H

State of the Action: #YearoftheHurdles here in Texas. Toss in some FL studs, and this race was not one to miss. Only the 1st 300H left in the Texas Relays saw the Top-6 athletes all now rank in the US Top-10. Grimes has had more success in the 300H, and he looked phenomenal in this race.

You can't talk about this race without mentioning Isaiah Lucas. He PRed last week in the 300H, and came right back and hit a new personal best by almost a full second! He now sits at US #2 behind Grimes.
