Girls Recap
The girls race was a battle between Leander Rouse's Madie Boreman and Houston Memorial's Khayla Patel. Both girls ran sub 11:30 for 2 Miles, but it was Boreman who came out on top running a new U.S. #2 11:17. Patel's time of 11:23 ties for U.S. #4. Not too far behind them was Austin Bowie's Marissa Flournoy who ran 11:35. In head to head match ups, Boreman has now beaten Patel 8 out of 12 times, including this past spring at the state meet in the 1600m (4:54) and 3200m (10:31). All of the top 10 girls ran under the 12 minute mark, with four girls hitting the National Elite mark of 11:45.
Although they had no one finish in the top three, and only one girl finish in the top 10, the girls from The Woodlands came out with the team win.The team scored 61 points to take the win. They were lead to victory by Lourdes Vivas who placed 7th running 11:50. One of the biggest reasons for their victory could be in their 1-5 split which was only 35 seconds! The next closest team was Cinco Ranch who scored 74 points. The Cougars were led by Reagan Kappel who finished the 2 mile course in 11:43. Rounding out the top three teams in third was St. John's Houston who scored 97 points.
