Abby Riordan McNeil Race Report

Waking up in Round Rock always is the best because that means we are racing the state course, I was

especially excited because this year the course is new and this is the first time we get to run it.  We met up in the lobby and set out to the course, we did our normal warm-up and treated the day like it was the state meet. When the gun went off I knew I had to get out and get a good position.  At the mile, I went out in a 5:16 and was in about 3^rd place and I felt comfortable. During the rest of the race, I just tried to hold on as best as possible. I felt strong through the second mile and then began to drop off the last mile, which is what I need to focus on most. I ended up 6^th in a 17:46 which I was really happy with. As a team, almost everyone pr'd and we finished 5^th which we couldn't be too mad about when 6/7 runners ran faster than they ever have before. We still have a lot to work on before November 12^th, but we are working towards our goals week by week. Also, shout out to Adam Dayani for his 12^th place finish in 15:18.
