We have seen the torched passed from the state's best to newcomers before. This year is no different. It can now officially be considered passed down. From some of Texas' best in Sam Worley, Reed Brown, Daniel Bernal, Connor 'Oneil and Daniel Viegra to super sophomore Alex Maier and juniors Ace Castillo and Ethan Hageman.
Last year, TX MileSplit Webmaster Bryan Deibel projected Alex Maier as one of the freshmen to watch for 2016. All Maier did was catapult from having potential with his 48th place finish at the 2015 State meet to a STAR in 2016 with his second place finish at State and with his worst finish of the season being his fifth place at Nike Cross Nationals.
Flip through the slides and see what freshman to keep an eye out for in 2017.
